Global events in November in five headlines, for those interested in the environment, sustainability and energy transition.

A study has demonstrated that in Central Europe, climate change has brought forward the falling of the leaves, and it has also been confirmed that the hotter and more arid climate in Mongolia and Northern China is a direct consequence of Earth's warming.

Again due to global warming, it has been proposed that the intensity of hurricanes once they hit land, and potentially inhabited areas, may decay more slowly, causing further serious damage.

It is official: to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change, it will not be sufficient to completely eliminate fossil-fuel emissions, which was already considered a difficult task in itself, but it will also be necessary to revolutionise the way that we produce our food.

It has been found that millions of used cars sold by Europe, the United States and Japan to low and medium-income countries are highly polluting: these are in fact low-quality cars that would not pass tests on suitability for circulation in the exporting countries, in terms of their emissions.

Satellite data demonstrates that Arctic ice formation is late compared to previous years. More specifically, on 24 October 2020, a record difference was identified in the daily extent of ice compared to the average for the period 1981–2010.
